Public Expenditure and Financial Accountability Assessment (PEFA)

11th May, 2011

In 2009/2010, the Caribbean Technical Assistance Centre (CARTAC) facilitated a Public Expenditure and Financial Accountability Assessment (PEFA) on the robustness of financial governance within Government.  This was requested by the Ministry of Finance to provide an independent and objective assessment of its performance.  A similar review namely, Fiduciary Risk Assessment (FRA) was commissioned by DFID as part of their requirement for countries receiving Budget Support.  The main recommendations have been included in a Public Financial Management Action Plan for implementation and where appropriate used to negotiate additional funding from DFID and the European Union to strengthen the financial management system.  A copy of the PEFA report is available here Public Expenditure and Financial Accountability Assessment (PEFA) report.
